WHAT ARE THE PROS & CONS OF EACH TYPE OF FLOORING?
Each individual flooring type and style has different pros and cons. We can discuss this more in-depth in the showroom. But, here’s a quick rundown.
Tile – extremely durable. Easy to clean. Moisture doesn’t generally affect it. However, if you have known foundation issues the tiles could crack. Tile is also colder and harder underfoot.
Hardwood – the real thing! Nothing beats nature. Since hardwood is a real product, each plank is different from the rest. It never goes out of style and is generally viewed as a premium flooring product. However, hardwood has a higher tendency to scratch and dent and is susceptible to moisture and humidity. These things simply mean you may need to take a bit more care with a real hardwood floor.
Laminate – engineered for households with kids and pets. Laminate is durable and when maintained properly can look the exact same 20 years after installation! Laminate is also budget friendly. However, since it’s a wood based product, it can be more susceptible to moisture and humidity (though we do have LOTS of waterproof options).
Luxury Vinyl Plank – aside from tile, this flooring is generally the most water-proof. WPC and SPC vinyl planks can be installed in bathrooms! Durability and style varies a lot among the different categories of LVP. This flooring type installs easy and continues to grow in popularity.
Carpet – soft, cozy and warm! Many people prefer to have carpet in bedrooms and rooms where they spend a lot of time on the floor. It is quiet, soft underfoot and generally the least-expensive flooring to purchase and install. There are even pet-friendly carpets with fantastic warranties!
