WHAT DOES THE FLOORING PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

We believe that the best way to experience our full scale of services is by coming into our expansive showroom and meeting us in person.

This allows our team to ask some questions to identify the right flooring for your home and allows you to touch and see all of the options we have available!

You are welcome to borrow samples to take home and once you’ve narrowed down your selection, we can schedule a free in-home estimate!

Then when you are ready to proceed with the new flooring, we can discuss installation timeline and turn-around.

HOW LONG DOES FLOORING INSTALLATION TAKE?

Installation duration depends on several factors – existing flooring that may need to be demoed, type of flooring being installed, total square footage, etc.

Typically, carpet installations are completed in one day and hard surface installations larger than one room take multiple days. Tile almost always takes a minimum two days (due to dry-time required for thinset).

WHO DOES THE FLOORING INSTALLATIONS?

We truly believe that we have the best installers in Texas!

We have several installation crews who are people of integrity, hard workers and experts in their field. We have known most of them for 20+ years! They love what they do and they are excellent at their craft.

When you choose us to install your floors, you are supporting local families and their dreams.

back

DO YOU INSTALL IF I HAVE MY own FLOORING MATERIAL?

No, for several reasons, we only install materials provided by us.

back

DO YOU SELL MATERIAL-ONLY IF I PLAN TO INSTALL MYSELF?

Yes, we do both!

HOW DO I CLEAN MY CARPET?

Frequent vacuuming is necessary. If you have a stain, the manufacturer may have a cleaning key on their website to assist you in stain removal.

Most carpet manufacturers recommend having your carpets professionally cleaned (by a company that is CRI certified) at least every 18 months. This is also important to keep the warranty intact. Please hold onto all receipts.

back

HOW DO I CLEAN MY HARD SURFACE FLOORS?

Most hard surface floors can be cleaned by sweeping.

For floors that can tolerate some topical moisture, you can spray (or LIGHTLY damp-mop) using a PH-neutral cleaner. Both Swiffer Wet-Jet & Bona are PH-neutral.

Always test any new cleaner on a small section of your floors first to ensure there are no reactions.

HOW DO I PREPARE MY HOME FOR FLOORING INSTALLATION?

When you place an order with us, we will provide you with a list of ‘things to expect’ that should answer all of your questions.

Generally speaking, we ask that you take care of moving all small things, breakables and electronics.

We do move furniture items. Depending on the flooring being installed, you may not have access to certain rooms until flooring installation is complete.

Please be aware that flooring demo (even carpet and pad) and installation can be dusty and create some mess. We do our best to minimize this, but please plan on cleaning once installation is complete.

This can also be noisy, so if you, your household, or pets are sensitive to noise you may want to make arrangements to be out of the house during working hours.

back

DO I HAVE TO BE HOME WHILE THE CREW IS WORKING?

No. We ask that you be on-site the first morning of installation to meet the crew and go over any questions. From there, you are free to come and go as you please.

WHAT ARE THE PROS & CONS OF EACH TYPE OF FLOORING?

Each individual flooring type and style has different pros and cons. We can discuss this more in-depth in the showroom. But, here’s a quick rundown.

Tile – extremely durable. Easy to clean. Moisture doesn’t generally affect it. However, if you have known foundation issues the tiles could crack. Tile is also colder and harder underfoot.

Hardwood – the real thing! Nothing beats nature. Since hardwood is a real product, each plank is different from the rest. It never goes out of style and is generally viewed as a premium flooring product. However, hardwood has a higher tendency to scratch and dent and is susceptible to moisture and humidity. These things simply mean you may need to take a bit more care with a real hardwood floor.

Laminate – engineered for households with kids and pets. Laminate is durable and when maintained properly can look the exact same 20 years after installation! Laminate is also budget friendly. However, since it’s a wood based product, it can be more susceptible to moisture and humidity (though we do have LOTS of waterproof options).

Luxury Vinyl Plank – aside from tile, this flooring is generally the most water-proof. WPC and SPC vinyl planks can be installed in bathrooms! Durability and style varies a lot among the different categories of LVP. This flooring type installs easy and continues to grow in popularity.

Carpet – soft, cozy and warm! Many people prefer to have carpet in bedrooms and rooms where they spend a lot of time on the floor. It is quiet, soft underfoot and generally the least-expensive flooring to purchase and install. There are even pet-friendly carpets with fantastic warranties!

back

DO I REMOVE MY EXISTING FLOORS BEFORE INSTALLING NEW FLOORS?

In most cases, yes. It is generally recommended to remove the old floor first. If we don’t, there could be a number of potential issues – voided warranties, door clearance, etc.

back

Is there someone who can help me choose the right flooring for my home?

Yes! We are happy to have a conversation with you about your household (i.e. do you have pets, active children, etc.) to help determine what floors may perform the best for your home.

We can also make recommendations based on trends and style. If you'd like more thorough, personalized assistance, we have fabulous designers we can recommend!

In addition, we have a virtual room visualizer tool on our home page that you can utilize to see what a particular product looks like in your home!

Tracey Mayo

"The Petty family is so friendly and so easy to talk with."

"Several years ago our foundational issues required us to replace the floors throughout our entire house. We shopped around and ultimately went with Petty Family Floors.

Sunni is amazing and so great to work with. She even came to our house in the evening and did all the measuring in our dirty, dusty house.

On install day, her sister Destini came and quickly noticed the new floors had a flaw in every box. The Pettys worked hard to get us the replacement floors as quickly as possible.

Even with that minor setback, we were so impressed with the whole process.

Fast forward a couple of years… We needed new floors in our kitchen. This time we went straight to Petty Family Floors! We picked a cute, modern farmhouse tile for our kitchen and utility room, it came in really quickly and the installation was so smooth!

The family is so friendly and so easy to talk to. I highly recommend Petty Family Floors for your flooring needs. We love to support our local Round Rock businesses."
